launched in spring 2005, the parents' fund is a vehicle which enables the parents of current junior members to make their own distinctive contribution to the well-being of their sons’ and daughters’ friends and direct contemporaries by relieving immediate financial hardship. 

it was launched in response to inquiries by a number of parents who asked how they might help the college and its junior members in a practical and identifiable way.

the hope which launched the parents' fund is that it will help to ensure that every magdalene student can pursue his or her university career and the diverse opportunities cambridge offers free from financial anxiety.
