in one way or another, magdalene has been fundraising since 1542. the most recent official campaign - the magdalene campaign - was launched in 1993 with the object of raising £20 million to add to the college's permanent endowment.
more specifically, the magdalene campaign aims:
- to increase the size of our endowment and thereby guarantee the resources necessary to secure the college's long-term future
- to preserve and enhance the best traditions of the college (including the provision of first class teaching and first class pastoral care - i.e. the supervision and tutorial systems)
- to provide student bursaries to ensure that no student is in financial hardship during his or her time here
- to modernise and improve magdalene’s facilities (including our teaching libraries and IT)
- to maintain and improve the fabric of the college's buildings and gardens
- to increase the resources available to support the junior members' clubs and societies.
